Awesome Autumn

Well here we are,  another Autumn - fantastic. That means, comfort food like Toad in the Hole and stew - check out Jamie Olivers recipe, delicious and will warm the cockles of your heart on those dark cold evenings. After a day of walking in wellies, with cheeks a flush , through fallen leaves coming into the smell of stew cooking would be magical.

This is time of year when we notice that sales for our candles increase. If you don't have access to a roaring log fire, candles really are the next best thing. Rooms lit by candle light really are inviting and relaxing and when you add the delicate scents of some of our candles in to the mix, you really are onto an award winning recipe for warding off the autumnal chill.


It seems a shame that at this time of the year we tend to keep the windows firmly shut and lock out all the lovely fresh air. We have some beautiful fragrances which will keep the scent of the outdoors alive till Spring. Are we really in Autumn?

It is so hard to believe that we are officially in Autumn. At St Eval Candle Company today there is hardly a cloud in the sky. It was an amusing sight to see swallows sat relaxing on one of the blades of our wind turbine this morning - but why not? Great view from up there for sure.
With the sun shining it still feels very much like summer. Surely we can't be only 7 weeks from Bonfire night?

With evenings beginning to close in keep its shame to keep to freshness of the outdoors locked out. The lanes around us here at St Eval are still bursting with berries and wild flowers, if you'd like to know what that smells like why not try our Dewberry & Bramble Hedgerow candle. Available in a small or large pot this rustic terracotta pots will lift the mood of any dark and chilly autumnal evening.
We are freshly back from the International Gift Show at the NEC where we have seen so many of our lovely trade customers - keep an eye out as our candles are coming to a gift shop or garden centre near you soon..

The Scent of Cornwall

 

Here at St Eval Candle Company we feel very luck to be based in such a lovely part of the world. There's so much to do, see and explore in Cornwall. With the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain, you’ll discover tiny Cornish fishing villages, smuggler’s coves, countless spectacular beaches and sweeping bays, dramatic cliffs and coastline, plus beautiful moorland and countryside.We are constantly being inspired by what we see and smell on a daily basis - we hope that this echoed in our products!

One of our most popular fragrances is the unsual Sea Salt. Close your eyes and breathe in the unique blend of ozonic and citrus scents of the Cornish sea. Smells Like Summer

You may or may not have known that we have a factory shop here on site and it is a haven for our beautifully handmade candles. If you are in the area please pop in and see us and if you're lucky we might even show you around the factory floor! The doors of the factory are always open and there is always something going on whether it's tins being poured or dinner candles being pulled off the wheel please come and see for yourself.

With the sun out all windows and doors are wide open including those in the office! It's a senses overload with the factory in full production on the hour there is a new smell in the air, so far today we (in the office) have smelt sweet Bay & Rosemary, Bluebell Wood ,Thyme & Mint and judging by the production board this afternoon we should be smelling Grapefruit & Lime, Sea Salt and Bergamot & Nettle!

Olympic Fever Grips Cornwall

The build up to the Olympics has well and truly begun with the torch touching down for the first time on Cornish soil. Just down the road from us here at St Eval we saw the torch carried aloft through Newquay with pride by various local sporting heroes! The atmosphere was electric you couldn't help but get caught up by Olympic fever - albeit very briefly!

The Olympic Flame commemorates the theft of fire from the Greek god Zeus by Prometheus, its origins lie in ancient Greece, where a fire was kept burning throughout the celebration of the ancient Olympics. The fire was reintroduced at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam,and it has been part of the modern Olympic Games ever since.

Being a candle company we are fully aware of the beauty of fire when managed correctly please see our tips below for getting a winning flame from your candles:

TIPS

Always trim the wick to a quarter of an inch before each burn.

When you light your candle for the first time let it burn so the wax melts and 

pools right to the edge.

                                                 Keep the wax pool free of debris.

                             Always place candles in well ventilated rooms but away from draughts.

              

                                      Avoid direct sunlight and other heat sources.
